As the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, Manjushri symbolizes the omniscient wisdom-mind of all the buddhas. For the liberation of sentient beings, Manjushri manifests as the five different Manjushris (corresponding to the five aspects of the wisdom of buddhahood), in wrathful aspect as the Lord of Death, and in a multitude of other peaceful and wrathful forms. Within Tibetan Buddhism specifically, he is sometimes included in a triad of bodhisattvas along with Avalokiteshvara and Vajrapani. In some traditions his consort is Sarasvati, the goddess of wisdom and the arts. It is believed that the worship of Manjushri, who is gifted with innumerable qualities, blesses one with wisdom, intelligence, eloquence, and a strong memory.
